• How did you meet your spouse or significant other?

  My husband and I met through a Christian personals service called "The Church of Many Mansions".  My intent when I signed up was not to meet my future spouse, but to find a friend to hang out with. Praise the LORD, He gave me both. We met via letter-real mail only in Dec. 1985, but he'd sent his letter to me to the personals service office--they never gave out your address or phone number, everything went to them and was forwarded to you to protect your privacy--in Sept. or Oct.1985. When he didn't hear from me, he literally gave up. He was shocked to get my letter at the end of December. We spoke at length on the phone--hours and hours each night. That was when long distance was still expensive and our phone bills, combined, were over $450.00 per month. By the way, at the time, he lived 6 hrs. away from me, so the train tickets, $86 round trip, also added up. In Feb. '86 we got engaged and were married in April. Thus we have 22 yrs. behind us...and "they thought it would never work".....Wow!
