Exactly one month.  Good timing.

One of my classes was cancelled today, the other wasn't, but I decided to get up early and study as opposed to driving down for one class during rush hour traffic with all the ice and snow.  My first final is next week, it's crazy.  This semester just flew by.  Probably because we had a test practically every week, so I just spent all semester freaking out over one just to move onto the next one.  Next semester will probably be a little more hectic, but I'm still just looking forward to this one being over with and a new one starting.  That much closer to being done...which is still a long ways away!

Tyler left this morning for California to go meet people/do interviews for residencys.  Of course he would go off to CA right as we get 8" of snow.  Lucky.  He's looking at some in Chicago, Florida, California, and Hawaii, and Johns Hopkins, among other places.  Pretty exciting stuff.

APO activation is also this weekend.  Should be pretty fun.  It's being held at an old movie theatre somewhere in Kansas, and I was in charge of the slideshow this year (which is pretty good, if I do say so myself), so hopefully they have a really cool setup to show it on.

Guess that's about all for now.  Lots of school and work.  Tyler and I are thinking about going somewhere cool for either spring break or between his and KayLa's graduations, but that's a long ways off.  Something to look forward to I suppose.  No idea what we're doing for New Years.  I'm working so we wont get to do anything too exciting, but we'll see what comes up I guess.  Back to studying...

So this past weekend was my only weekend off all summer.  Tyler and I decided to take a camping trip, which would've included biking, hiking, swimming, cooking, all the usual stuff.  So we leave KC at 6 AM on Saturday, drive north to this campsite.  We get everything set up, go on a long bike ride, hike a few miles, and swam for a while, all before noon.

Then the thunder/lightening storm hit.  Sunday morning I wake up at 6 AM with my eye swollen shut, which progresses throughout the day into an extremefully painful and disgusting eye infection leading to a trip to the ER at 9 pm on a Sunday night.

So it's now 1:40 pm the next day, and I've just gotten out of bed because I'm SO bored and still can't see worth crap, and called into work today to let them know that I probably wont be coming in tomorrow becuase I can't see, which means no driving, and makes it kind of difficult to fill prescriptions.  Not to mention the fact that anyone who comes in will probably go "Um, gross," and walk away.

So all in all, my weekend was fairly eventful I suppose.  And while the rain and the whole eye thing really do suck, we still managed to have a lot of fun trying to start a fire in the rain, laughing about some of the really 'interesting' people there, and joking about how ridiculously gross my eye is while driving around looking for different urgent cares/hospitals.

I swear I'm not a totally negative person.

President Bush in Jeff City when I was there for MO Legislative Day.  He interviewed various people like doctors, pharmacists, nurses, people in charge of Medicare Part D, and then 2 senior citizens to get their thoughts on Medicare Part D.  Everyone was very knowledgable and polite, except this one old lady sitting directly next to Bush.  When he was in the middle of a conversation with another person, she'd just random lean over and put her hand on his knee, or give him a hug.  At the end when everyone stood up and he went to shake everyone's hand, she wouldn't let go of him, so he had to make his rounds with an old lady attached to his hip.  I was delighted to find this picture of them together on the Missouri Pharmacists' Association website.

Tyler and I at my grandmother's for Easter.  Tyler found out his rotations for next year.  In pharmacy school, you do undergrand, then get into pharm school, do 4 years of classwork, and 1 year of rotations where you go out and just practice at a different site every month or so.  Then you graduate, take the NAPLEX and the law exam, and poof, you're a pharmacist.  Mr. Dodson is lucky enough to start in June, which only a few people from each class get to do, so he'll be done with classes by January instead of May, so before this time next year, he'll be a pharmacist.  Very excited for him, as all of you should be too.

Me, KayLa, and Mom for Easter.  I got to go back to Nevada on Saturday, and Lamar/Iantha on Sunday to see my huge family.  It was a lot of fun, and a nice break before the 10 tests I have in the next 2 weeks.  May 3rd can't get here fast enough...

For everyone who doesn't know, Pirates of the Carribean - Dead Man's Chest, is coming out on my birthday this year (July 7th).  I think Johnny might've taken a hint from the b-day party a few years back and decided to give me the movie as my gift this year.  I'm grateful.  And I'm not sure what made me think of this today, maybe just the fact that I bought and watched "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" last night, which, if you've never you seen it, you need to.  But you'd have to be in the right mood.  It's messed up. Anyways, in honor of all that, stuff from the movie, and a couple of cool things at the bottom...

Captain Jack Sparrow discovers he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, Captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation and servitude in the afterlife. Making matters worse, Sparrow's problems manage to interefere with the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who are forced to join Jack on yet another one of his misadventures.

From Senior year in H/S...Mr. Daut loved this picture.  Unfortunately I don't have any of the one's from J. Depp's Birthday party on my computer, and I don't feel like taking the time to do it.  Maybe another day.

I’ve just single-handedly consumed an entire bag of potato chips.

Not one of those “itsy bitsy got it out of the snack machine” bags.  More of the “bought it for a huge party and left it on the table all night and it never got finished” bags (11oz).

I’m not sure why I did it.  I wasn’t really hungry.  I’ve had breakfast, lunch, and dinner today.  And I didn’t eat them over an extended period of time, either.  I just did it.

As soon as I realized what I’d done, I became fascinated with the chips, and the fact that for no good reason, I ate all of them.  So, being female, the first thing I do it look at the Nutrition Facts.  Doesn’t appear to be that awful at first – 160 calories and 10 grams of fat….per serving.  And what we love to overlook is how many servings are in anything that you eat.  In this particular case, it was 11.  So in a matter of minutes I engulfed 1,760 calories and 110 grams of fat.  Kind of makes you want to get sick, doesn’t it?

But, I’m also an optimist.  So, if you look at it this way, I also received 100 % of my daily Vitamin C, 66% of Vitamin E, 44% of Vitamin B6, and 20 grams of protein.

I continued to read the bag, like I actually thought it was going to explain why I had just done this to myself.  Here’s a little more info about my Lay’s (yes, brand name) Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips:

They are guaranteed fresh until January 24th, 2006.  The price of my sin was a mere $2.99 (+tax).

Ingredients: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil, Nonfat Milk Solids (that sounds gross), Salt, Maltodextrin, Onion Powder, Whey, Sour Cream, Dextrose, Monosodium Glutamate, Palm Oil, Parsley, Cottonseed Oil (wtf?), Lactose, Citric Acid, and Lactic Acid.

And here’s what really inspired me to write about my chips in the first place.  The following:

GUARANTEED FRESH UNTIL PRINTED DATE OR THIS SNACK’S ON US.

QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? 1-800-352-4477

Weekdays 9:00AM – 4:30pm, Central Time.

You can ask questions about your chips.  Every weekday, someone out there is just sitting, waiting on for you to call and ask a question about your potato chips.  I wonder if the questions are restricted only to chips.  Because I would LOVE to call and ask the person on the other end who they are and what they’re doing there.  Is it the CEO of FritoLay?  Do they have a degree in Nutrition, perhaps? Is it some homeless man that they picked up off the street in an effort to decrease unemployment rates?  I’m curious.  Tomorrow I’m calling.  But as for tonight, I’ll continue to sit and reflect on my actions…and maybe study a little Organic for my final tomorrow.

Tue: Anyone who goes to UMKC will know what I'm talking about.  The whole Sodexho thing...if  you lived at the dorms, you've suffered through it.  Go sign the petition at http://new.PetitionOnline.com/umkcstu/petition.html.  I think it's ridiculous that they're keeping it, and I specifically remember a quote in the newspaper last year after the protest on Rockhill from the Vice Chancellor promising that it was going to change.  Oh well.  I'm out of the dorms now, I just feel really sorry for everyone else who's forced to spend thousands of dollars on crappy food that they wont eat anyways.
