The anti-ideologue ideologue -- the next self-fulfilling prophesy!
Pass it around, it's memetic (infectious).
Analysis: McCain Sincere, Short on Answers Oh, but isn't any criticism a sign that the media has a liberal bias, as my educated mother, a former school teacher, believes? No, that would be a false 'Forces of Good™ vs. Forces of Evil™ dichotomy -- that would be black and white thinking -- that would be dumbed down dualism talking. This is what happens when people believe that you can't have a moral or intellectual compass unless you unquestioningly submit to some form of indoctrination/brainwashing (anyone can take any doctrine, religious or not, in such a direction). I have to remember that my mother survived Nazi Germany as a child by unquestioningly submitting to brainwashing. She, one of the most resourceful leave-no-stone-unturned people I've known, doesn't imagineto question, dig, and read when it comes to politics and religion despite the fact that systems of morals, ethics, and virtues, religious or other, are not infallible or beyond reality, fact, and logic checks.
Reality Check: McCain is running one of the most conservative campaigns ever.
McCain’s Effort to Woo Conservatives Is Paying Off - NYTimes.com Mr. McCain has said that he would appoint conservative jurists and run a ... many advocates say is the most conservative platform in the party’s history. ...
Read or listen to component 2 of Naomi Wolf's "Ten Components of Closing an Open Society," that warns how tipping points start coming fast when it's a bit late in the game.
Stealth and Birth Control
Many dismissed, justified, and rationalized accepting the decline of a woman's right to choose or increasing governmental support for pharmacists and doctors to refuse birth control pills. Now the Bush administration is emboldened to attempt to legally define birth control as a form of abortion -- religious definitions manufacture that "confusion."
I've never had an abortion (even many Christians/others don't accept the polarized debate, see Abortion: Pro-Life & Pro-Choice?) and often take care of my very autistic grandson who may or may not need such care the rest of his/my life but I don't share Palin's religious views and I don't want to further theocrat wannabe ambitions (McCain would like to undo Roe vs. Wade, removing any middle ground).
Within the fight for dominance for crypto-theocratic control, many politicians are using religion to gain support under guise of protecting family values and the sanctity of marriage.
Really outlawabortion-- South Dakota's law is so funky that abortion can only be accidental, even if the mother's life is at risk or in the case of an 11-year-old incest child rape victim -- polarities and slippery slopes are bound to take issues like abortion to that extreme.
Alternatively, religions and "Godlessness" are being "addressed" by declaring the biblical God the state God, such as in Missouri.
Censor media and label anything other than their spiel as 'anti-family' agenda.
Within the fight for dominance for crypto-theocratic control, many politicians are using religion to tear full throttle into ridiculous heterosexualism.
Within the fight for dominance for crypto-theocratic control, many politicians are using religion to accept any conflation of any poly unions, cult or not, with child raping tyrannical polygamist cults. In the 2006, 10 states put "marriage protection" (often worded as "between a man and a woman") to a vote:
Candidate and issue based votes? Majority vote is correct.
Faith-based or civil rights based votes? Majority vote tumbles into the territories of tyranny of the majority, creedism, theocracy, heterosexualism, and other problems.
Stealth and Giving Creationism False Equity in Science Classes
The "teach the controversy" drive to teach creationism in science class was also stealth -- ushered in by a supposedly good intentioned purposeful "confusion." Here's a blast from the not so distant past.
Public School Text Book Pro-Creationism Sticker Game: A push to put stickers on high school text books "stated that" evolution was a theory, combining "either fact or theory" false dilemma with a "religiously neutral" meme thrown in for spice. As a result, false equitybetween the theories had its day. Stealth confusions open the door to all this garbage.
How did it start? Much of Intelligent Design wedge was hinged on the fact that the word theory has crucial different and distinct meanings. Not even a retired judge's anti-evolution/pro-Intelligent Design 20 Logic Errors reasoning can hold a candle to the following differentiation, logic used, and implications which I, an artist and housewife can point out. Sheesh.
Common Use of the Word Theory:
In common usage, "theory" is a word that signifies "conjecture", "speculation", or "opinion." In this sense, "theories" may (1) be opposed to "facts" in that facts are true regardless of what people think.
Scientific Use of the Word:
A theory is a “proposed description, explanation, or model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise verified through empirical observation.”
In the sciences, "theory" and "fact" do not stand in opposition and theory and fact are reciprocal.
Example!
Fact: Every apple ever dropped on earth (under normal, controlled conditions) falls towards the center of the planet in a straight line.
Theory: Theory of Gravity explains why. This theory can predict future occurrences/observations of the same nature and it can be tested/observed to produce like results.
If being "religiously neutral" means leaving a false dilemma like this unchallenged, unnamed and "on the books" then that's not neutrality -- that's a gag ordernot to obstruct RR meddling with public education.
Stealth and Conflating "Extremists" with Terrorism
They ushered in "confusion" between the words "extremism" or "extremist" and "terrorism." Terrorism is a tactic. An extremist is any person extremely different from you, you, and you.
"Extremism, whatever its nature, is a form of political activity that overtly or covertly rejects the principles of parliamentary democracy, and very often bases its ideology and its political practices and conduct on intolerance, exclusion, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and ultra-nationalism." [Resolution 1344 (2003)]
Our country has and still associates civil rights leaders and movements with extremists, hence how civil rights and peaceful protestors were treated in the 60's and now at the RNC Raids. Hope you don't have any instant soup and like civil rights.
Palin: Under Investigation & Able to Wipe Out Women's Choice
Chaired the Alaskan Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which regulates said resources.
Our nation needs to put the lion's share of attention toward new and renewable energy technologies, and not just on a time table that will allow the present energy (oil and gas) corporations to own and control those industries too, squeezing out competition and the innovation, raising our costs, and thus hobblingthe U.S. in a very competitive global market at a time when extended global market upheaval means opportunity (maybe I should make wei ji "go green" pendants). You know what happens when a nation misses windows of opportunity in a situation like that? (It's shouldn't be any surprise that trading things ecology for less innovative and timely corporate interests was a bad deal from the start.) So, in what direction will her alliances and body of knowledge point our nation? I have more than suspicions but more information and close observation of her present and ongoing record is needed.
In line with "Big Oil first, she's pushed hard for more oil drilling but claims says renewables won't be ready for years.
She sued the Bush administration putting listing polar bears on the endangered species list for fear that it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska
Has a reputation of being a maverick that takes on the GOP.
But does not believe, citing God, in a woman's choice. She's a GOP wet dream and former beauty queen? While I've never had an abortion and often take care of my very autistic grandson who may or may not need such care the rest of his/my life, I don't share her religious views and don't want to further theocrat wannabe ambitions. Life is hard enough and I'm concerned why she's paired up with McCain, another threat to a woman's choice, a threat that's not going to stop at tackling abortion. (See Tell the HHS That Birth Control is Not a Form of Abortion.) Theocracy always reaches its controlling grasp as far as it can.
Many dismissed, justified, and rationalized accepting the decline of a woman's right to choose and governmental support for pharmacists and doctors to refuse birth control pills, but look what happened with that -- the Bush administration is trying to legally define birth control as a form of abortion (Yes, really see "Tell the HHS That Birth Control is Not a Form of Abortion".). Stealth. Watch out for it. Note the red flags, discern the patterns, and don't wait until the tipping points come to hard and fast at you.
Backed tough ethical standards for politicians, seeing a state ethics law overhaul passed.
That's fine but separation of church and state and pluralism rather than uber normalization encourage ethics and virtues to flourish and have a functional place in politics and society.
But fired Alaska's public safety commissioner because he refused to fire the governor's former brother-in-law, a state trooper, during a family-related custody battle that could be affected by such actions? Claims no abuse of power.
Is an avid hunter, I have no problem with that (unless her resulting alliances with certain types of agencies may prove troubling), but I am ignorant of the politics and alliances perhaps involved in her being a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Oh wait, I do have a problem with her eliminating her top competition by supporting Alaska's predator control program, which involves slow death of thousands of wolves and bears by trap. Torture is okay with her, she displays a profound lack of understanding of how imbalance impacts metasystems in lasting ways...yes, yes, I think our nation has already seen those traits. More on Palin's eco-sensehere.
Has an extreme lack of experience on political issues, including foreign policy and homeland security. That inexperience and ignorance is highly likely to allow all the erosion of civil rights in the name of national security, and just plain ol' abused power and control, to continue to further entrench itself. That's not security. That's liability. Deep topic. She'd have to do a good amount of reading while being open to a multitude of different POV's and opinions on the topics involved. She'd also have to have an eye for the patterns emerging now, similar patterns in history, and an understanding of how technology could compound and change those patterns (potentials, risk assessment). I'm betting that she doesn't have this kind of interest or aptitude under her belt or cranium and that her political path couldn't afford it.
As a woman brought up in a thoroughly Republican home, no, I'm not impressed. No, she hasn't "changed the game" -- she's likely to deepen the ruts.
McCain did what many (in this case, political) abusers do -- he picked a younger woman not wise to the signs and patterns of abuse so that she may play the role of enabler and role model for his flavor of power paradigm, one that has become a theocracy which has taken its core values into areas of nation-crumbling extremes of corporatism and financialization (not that other political parties didn't have their share of accountability).
I stopped thinking of myself as Republican a while ago because I digg, read, notice patterns, and I love my country, my family, my community, and our civil rights.
Tell the HHS That Birth Control Is Not a Form of Abortion
According to modern medicine, pregnancy begins at the implantation stage.
According to some people's religious beliefs, pregnancy begins at conception so birth control, not just the surgical procedure of abortion, but birth control is considered a form of abortion. The stage has been set with many states making it very difficult or illegal to obtain even an early abortion so guess what happens if birth control is legally called a form of abortion...
We the People of the United States of America do not wish any proposal to interfere with women's basic health, including birth control. Birth control is not a form of abortion despite what some religious memes and infected views, religious or not, may try to declare. I'm not accepting such edicts as law.
We cannot afford to loose the lessons of the dangers of theocracy (crypto-theocracy is not wise either) and must be able to distinguish under what circumstances majority vote is correct and when it can become tyranny of the majority and crypto-theocracy.
Candidate and issue based votes? Majority vote is correct. Faith-based or civil rights based votes? Majority vote tumbles into the territories of tyranny of the majority, creedism, theocracy, heterosexualism, and other problems.
Sincerely,
Name City, State, U.S.A.
After they received criticism for attempting to redefine abortion to include birth control, the Bush Administration altered the language to make it less understandable but kept in many of the same bad provisions that hurt women's access to basic health care such as birth control.
