***The following is a bitch session. Reader's discretion is advised***

ABSTRACT: I'm still looking for an internship. Blah blah blah blah blah.

FULL TEXT: Uggh, allow me to use a Boston expression and say that "I am wicked pissed." I'm getting very frustrated about my summer plans and I wish I could have gotten something nailed down already. It's not like I procrastinated until the last minute, either...I've been working on this since January! I know it's a hard, tricky industry to get an internship (or even a job) in, so it's something I've been on top of.

I still haven't heard from the American Museum of the Moving Image. I contacted them last week about final decisions that were supposed to be made by 3 May. They said that they were still reading resumes and decisions could be made by the end of this week. Well it's Thursday now, and not a word...

I just had a phone interview with the president of Film For Food. He seemed like a nice guy and he explained to me that he's also heads another company that is involved with acquisitions and financing. At least the company doesn't seem so rinky dinky, it does work Woody Allen's company and the IFC. I suppose if I did get it, it'd get some good exposure to the New York-based film industry (a field I want to get into) and screenplay development. I suppose working with screenplays would also be helpful since I will be doing work on my screenplay thesis over the summer. Which, by the way, I still have no freakin' idea what my story will be about!

Anyway, he said that he will sent me a script and have me write coverage on it, he won't tell me who's involved with the project. I guess he just wants to see what I can do. I think I'll try to get Mr. Steerman to look over my coverage and give me feedback on my work before I send it off.

Also, it's unpaid and part-time...but it is really the only substantial response I have gotten from the myriad resumes I sent out! Yesterday I contacted the internship coordinator at Sony Pictures Enterntainment. I have always contacted her whenever paid internships at Sony Pictures Classics opened up. I asked her if she received my fax on Friday. She didn't say if she did or didn't, but I guess she reviewed the cover letter and resume I enclosed as file attachments. I'm sure that's true, but at least remove your postings on e-Recruting for the other opportunities! She told me that they currently have one part-time, unpaid opportunity in releasing.

Damn, I feel about as interested in an unpaid, part-time internship as Christopher Reeve feels in running a marathon. Sorry, that's a low-blow, but I'm so frustrated! I've got bills to pay! I remember last summer that my mom said she could get me some part-time or full-time work with Yonkers Public Schools for up to $20/hr. I hope if I mention that to her now, she won't develop amnesia and have no idea what I'm talking about. But even though the communte can be taxing (economically, emotionally AND physically), I still want to work in the city full-time.

On Friday I got contacted for an interview to be a film scout assistant, I heard about the job in a Film majors' email. Only thing is, even though it was described as an internship, it's actually a job! What pisses me off so much is that I heard back from a JOB but not an INTERNSHIP.

Anyway, I suppose it's good that I don't have to worry about finishing five finals while I take care of this. Yesterday, they were all due and I somehow managed to make the deadline...whoopee! But I also guess it's great that I'm just a whinny bourgeoise who's looking for industry experience and not someone who's stressing about finding a job to support a family. Looking at the big picture is helpful.

I'm guess I should be getting ready to row today. Hopefully, that'll help burn off my frustration along with some study week fat.
