 A Sea to See !

A sea below my lotus thighs,
and feeling as if I ride on an ocean of fur,
aloud roar comes from below as a tiger caught in a deep canyon,
a cool grip moves over my body as a serpent on a tree,
there is a heavy weight on my head, like the weight of much karma,
but there is a silent stillness, some single point I can not touch
that is listening, that minute light is there listening
a small light as a pin hole with something beyond I can't see
yet that oval shape comes closer as I look, looking deep,
I can not see, the more I try the less there is, but I am
face to face with that shape so suddenly I am swallowed
as if down a deep mouth I become digested in darkness,
there is a light all around, in every way I feel it,
but can not hold it, there is a coat of bhasma all around
I can not move to tell you about it, it is grey, it is black
and it is light, I am caught in this cremation ground
it is just beyond the eye of the needle, look deep to see!

Poetry from Shankara's Siva Recollections.
