Thought for the Day: Worthless Country

I was thinking the other day about the most worthless country in the world.  Some people would assume that it is Iraq.  Some would think that I would say France.  But after much analysis I have determined that it would have to be...PANAMA!  Think about it, Panama has a GNP of 12.1 Billion, where as countries like Mexico (604 Billion), Russia (336 Billion), and the US (10,402 Billion) far exceed that amount (according to http://www.studentsoftheworld.info/infopays/rank/PNB1.html). Yes of course countries like Afghanistan (4.63 Billion) and Somalia (1.35 Billion) have a lesser amount, would they get completely annihilated by a tsunami the size of the one that hit a couple of weeks ago?  What does Panama have?  Jungles and a canal that is too small for any modern ships.  If they increased the size of that canal to compensate for today's modern ships, there would be no Panama, just a canal.  There natural resources expand through a list that includes...Copper (worthless), Mahogany Forest (cheap wood), shrimp (worthless seafood), and hydropower (which can probably only power half of their own country).  Only 9.34% of its land can be used (for a total of 7097 sq. km, or roughly 2000 sq. km smaller than New Hampshire).  How pathetic!  I'm glad I don't live in Panama, it is a stupid country with a stupid name.  Ciao!

Thoughts for the Day: And, no I am not gay!

I really don't know what I mean by my title, I just needed something to rhyme with day.  I haven't posted anything interesting in awhile, probably because my life is not as interesting as some people assume.  And by people, I mean whoever is reading this, and by whoever is reading this I mean myself.  So I often sit and wonder why I update a site that only I read?  Maybe there is a small hope in me that someone might find what I say intriguing, or maybe I  just do it so I have a place where I can collect my thoughts and see what I was thinking a few months ago.  Or maybe, I just don't care and that is why I do it.  Who knows?

Tsunamis and shit:  I'm sure you have all heard about the tsunami that hit south east asia and shit, I just hope that part of the world will be able to regain there feet and get back to normal.  I guess I feel lucky that the only thing I have to worry about is what I should get inside my omelet in the morning.

Gorilla Suits and Hoola Hoops:  Its an inside joke, don't ask.

Anyway, as for a little update.  I am now back in Korea, and sitting in my small room right now looking at my posters that I had to duct tape to the walls, because scotch tape wouldn't hold and tacs won't go through concrete.  I never really realized how bad living in Korea and El Paso has effected me until I went home on leave this past October.  As I was driving, I got to the outskirts of Indianapolis and heard a song on the radio that I never heard before.  I thought it was a new release by a new band.  Well, my fiance informed me that the song had actually been out for a year or so.  I can't rely on MSN Entertainment to give me updates, since all they talk about is Britney, Justin, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Snoop-Dogg, and a bunch of other style songs that I could have no interest in.  Stupid pop-culture.  My computer is acting up again, I guess someone downloaded some porno on it when I was on 24hr CQ duty.  When I left it was working fine, I just got done reformating it, then when I got back, I couldn't get connected to the Internet for more than 5 minutes.  Luckily that was long enough for me to download some anti-virus programs from my old college.  Now she is running smooth.  I hate battery runs, we ran one last week and it fucked my back up for about 6 days.  It still hurts, but it is getting better.  I couldn't sleep worth shit two nights ago, I kept waking up every 30 minutes to an hour.  Between my room mates snoring, farting, and sleep talking, he is the loudest sleeper I ever met, but its all good, I don't care.  Oh well, I got to get some sleep in, and possibly watch some X-Files.  Take er easy, and will update again.  Ciao!

Quick Post: Like it says

Just a quick post to say congrats to my team, the Indianapolis Colts, for setting some awesome records this past game.  You deserve it and hopefully you will get to enjoy a Super Bowl trophy along with it.  Ciao!

THOUGHT FOR YESTERDAY: Clarifing topic.

I mistyped some things.  Yesterday's post was NOT about Bush or about Kerry, it was about our congress.  Not many people realize, but the congress is supposed to be the voice of our "common will".  We elect these representatives to, get this, represent us!  And the sad thing is, that the congress lets all the blame fall on the President.  If they had a majority rule (51% or more) they could have over-rided the President's decision for "Military Action" in Iraq.  Seeing as that didn't happen, that must mean that the "common will" of the people of the United States was for us to be in Iraq.  Only congress can "declare war".  That is solely an act of congress, not the President.  Now that that is settled...

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Education

People complain about our poor education system.  That our children are not being taught well enough.  Seeing as I enjoy history so much, this will deal greatly with history topics.

First off, with everything history, there are two sides.  The problem with our schools is that they only teach the one side, the American side.  And they condone any student trying to learn about the other side.  What  would happen if a sophomore in high school decided that he wanted to read "Mein Kampf" (the book Adolf Hitler wrote while in prison) during the time he was studying WWII?  They would consider him a Nazi, a racist, a bias pig!  He would be lucky if he didn't get expelled from school.  Why is that?  Why are we too afraid to allow our children to learn both sides?  Why can a child only read something published by a "hero" like MLK, or JFK, or whatever?  Are we too paranoid that the student will begin to think like Hitler?  Well, stopping them from reading it at school would not deter a person that wanted to think like him.  But it does deter a student from learning.  The same goes for today.  What would happen if your child, or yourself, decided to read something Saddam Hussein wrote?  You would be classified as a terrorist!  WHY!?  Is it so wrong for a person to want to know "WHY" Saddam hates America?  "WHY" Hitler hated Jews?  It goes so far beyond just these two examples.  We need to stop preventing people from learning all sides.  Then maybe our youth can grow up with more knowledge than what the US says happened.  Then maybe other countries will stop thinking of us being so arrogant.  Just maybe...Ciao!
