So Kevin finally called me Friday night after a 2 week abscence in my life. He had a friend come in from New York on vacation, so that took up most of his time, outside of working while that was going on. Still, I was hoping he'd at least send a text message, a quick "hi" on vocie mail, something. This situation of course led me to worrying again if he really liked me, or if he was trying to come up with a polite way to dump me. So, like any well informed, modern guy...I went & sat down with the Tarot cards. I have the coolest deck in the world, it's vampire-themed. Anyway, the cards advised that I remain calm and patient and good things were in store for me. I decided to take their advice, although if he hadn't called me by tonight, I was gonna go nuts and drive to Abington to track him down, lol.
Oh, I gotta tell you about Friday at work. Had this guy come in to the office, and he didn't tell me he wanted this done, but the doctor had me to come in and assist. We froze off genital warts. I've never felt such a mix of pity and indigestion. Seriously, my breakfast was backing up during this procedure.
Ok, back to life. I work at a nursing home every other Saturday during the day shift. During lunch while I was passing out my noontime pills, there was this woman playing the piano for the residents. When she finishes, I notice she's getting up, so I decide this is the time to yell out "Play some Skinnard!!" One of the aides takes the cue and lets out "Freebird!" We got a laugh out of it, but this prude playing the piano was like "What's a Skinnard?" Ye gods....
So this song came across my mind last night, and it's kinda applying to my life in some ways...anyway, enjoy!
Wake up my sweet child There's something I've got to say to you tonite It's time you took a look at me Cause there's so much more to me Than meets the eye
Well, there's more to love than makin' time The harder you look the more you'll find It's never easy no matter what they say
Chorus: Love's a hard game to play The heart's the price you pay Love's a hard game to play No matter what they say Win or lose, no matter what they say Love's a hard game to play
The problem here is not my fear The trouble is you can't convince yourself For tonight, let's lose the past Make love last Put our worries up on the shelf
We've been through thick and thin, and back again And we can endure love's sweet pain Remember, starting the fire is easy The hardest part is learning how to keep the flame
Love's like walking a real fine line You get too close and you'll go blind Let go too long and it will all drift away
Repeat Chorus:
Just when I feel like I'm losin' you I hear them voices call They say it's better to have lost at love Than never to have loved at all Lose or win, stand or fall
Well, there's more to love than makin' time The harder you look, the more you'll find It's never easy, no matter what they say |
