| | I figured since I'm about to go celebrate the movies that have had the biggest influence on my life, it would be appropriate to change up the site some. Most likely it will change daily to accommodate all 6 of the films but that'll depend if I get time to sit down & do it. I wanted one big background of the movie poster but could never remember how to stretch them to fit. I don't change often enough to remember. Anyway...just wanted to revel in my geekness. Star Wars. Later known as "A New Hope" to keep things in order & separate, although George Lucas played merry hell with the order of storytelling, and yet it was a brilliant move on his part. No other film maker in history has taken a story, told the middle first, went to the end, then when back to the start & came forward. Whether you love this film, hate it, or merely tolerate its existence, you can't deny it's become part of our social consciousness, much like sliced bread. I've read so many interviews & theories as to why it's so popular & why it has remained so strong for the LAST 30 YEARS & I wish I could quote those as well as I can the movies, but to paraphrase Walter Cronkite...it's a movie that transcends boundaries of age, race, and nationality. It's not about white people, black people, asian people, young people, old people, it's about ALL people. It's a story that speaks to everyone and it will always speak to everyone. |
