  • Your Tribe has Spoken

This is a Kween of the Queen's challenge.

    MY REALITY TELEVISION PARTNER

Imagine you have been selected for a reality television show i.e. Big Brother, Survivor, et all.  You have to choose someone to share this experience with,  your own partner.  Who would you choose?  Why?

    THE PARAMETERS:

NOT YOUR BEST FRIEND or a relative, but someone who has intrigued you, who you would like to get to know better.

    I would take Tania.

She's a lady I work with, but that I don't work very closely with. I'm the receptionist for a property management company (rentals and home owner's associations). She helps clean our properties and also works on projects for our accounting department.

So, let's break down what's needed for a good reality show partner (this is in general, of course if we're talking top model or top chef or project runway or anything that you need to have talent for, I'd be picking differently!) And let me qualify this by saying that I watch at least 6 different reality shows at any given time. I'm a junkie.

Intelligence, without the appearance of being intelligent. I'm all for the fly under the radar method, and would hope my partner would be too. Now, I don't her age, interests, or really anything but the small talk we've made. I would say that's under the radar. But I have seen her pick up on things really quickly, so she's certainly sharp. But, I think she could play up the dumb act, just like I could if I had to. Neither of us look like geniuses, which would work to our advantage.

Hard work and determination. I have heard people say she does a really good job at what she does. Most people would rather her help them than the other girl we have on. It's essential to help the team- without being noisy about it. And she certainly doesn't sing her own praises.

Likability that isn't overly apparent. She's always smiling, but somewhat quiet. When you talk to her, she's very friendly, but not overly so. So people couldn't point out her quietness as being under the radar, nor her friendliness to being a threat (assuming we're on a show where you have to vote which is pretty common if it's not talent based).

In fact, I have been wanting to talk to her more but haven't had the courage to do so. I have the feeling that we'd get a long really well, and that would be a fairly good test of it. You can't come out of an experience like that without either being best friends, or not being able to stand each other. And since I don't work with her much, if we couldn't stand each other, we'd only have to keep it professional for a few minutes a few times a week. Kind of a win-win.

I think that there is such a thing as a kindred spirit (a la Anne of Green Gables, I LOVE that series) and that one can recognize another. And there is just something about her that draws me to her. A je ne sais quoi.

I don't know if you all have read about my craigslist adventures in finding a good friend, but I still haven't. Which reminds me, I need to repost my ad o.o Anyway, I would think and hope that a lasting, good friendship would come out of such a relationship and I think that I would have a good chance at that with her, though I barely know her.
