  • Grateful Living

The Turkey Vultures have long since gone south to Mexico for the winter. The cottonwood trees and elm have turned golden yellow and I look out across the canyon this crispy cold morning at 21 degrees. Yesterday morning I woke up to snow and for awhile it melted, but then the whole sky was full of fluffy white stuff.

The puppies eyes opened when they were 14 days old. They are 7 weeks old now and Emma is refusing to nurse...those sharp teeth! They are now eating dry kibble as much as they want throughout the day. I told my daughter that I was full of puppy love. They will go to their new owners the first week in December when they are 9 weeks old. We will miss them...and, we will be relieved. You should see me with 5 little bowls lined up and Emma's bowl, heating water to put over the canned doggy food and cottage cheese to warm it up. The first time I did this, I did not get the food warm enough and after they ate, they were all shaking cold. I had to pick each one up and warm them up and then off they ran playing and tumbling. I emptied Emma's toy basket out over the floor and all the pups just sat and looked and then soon each one had a toy and running around. I am truley grateful for this experience.

I am wishing i could have visited just once before they  were placed. The cool thing is that so many other people will now get to  bring companionship and amusement into their lives because you and their other mama did such a good job.have you placed them all?

I bet she was getting tired of all that feeding and now she gave the job to you.  I know that they are so cute from my sister having 4 puppies twice and the last litter she kept the runt-a brown little boy Jimmy because they had her fixed since she was 5yrs old. My brother and his wife took the cutest one of the litter. It had black and white strips.lol

You have snow and all we have is rain. I'm not really looking forward to the snow as it is going to come just as the sun rises the snow will come, too.

The pups must be a handful. Are they getting paper trained? When I had my sisters dog and 9 puppies I had them eating off a table cloth on the floor and newpaper at the back door. They really learned fast! Thank goodness since they were lab pups and getting bigger by the minute.

Can't wait for the weekend! We all look forward to seeing you and the fuzzies. . .

Hope you are enjoying the holidays. Did all the pups get to their new homes?  And did the family get down to visit them one more time before they departed? We had our first snow Dec 5. way to early for me!
