| | As some of you might know, our principal is finally retiring after 30 years at the school, 14 of which were spent at the helm. So as a farewell gift, the administration planned a weekly calendar for her, with each class allocated one A5 page to express their inconsolable grief at her retirement (A5? Surely that's not enough!) which would've probably meant more work for me, not unlike the stupid National day skit and numerous other useless tasks that were assigned to me. Thank God though, that the job was finally pushed to the art girls. I mean, how was I going to find the time to do anything else in between all the studying I have to do?
I found it quite ironic then, that my younger sister's teacher called my mother up yesterday to request her help in designing her class' page which is how a whole stack of letters to Miss Kon from Primary 3.6 ended up in my house.
So, like I was totally being sarcastic about the 'inconsolable grief', right? I mean I didn't think anyone could actually care less that the principal's leaving and that we're gonna get a new one from Bukit Panjang Government High or whatever. But apparently the girls from 3.6 do. And just to show how much they're gonna miss her, here's a compilation of the top 7 letters I read (all grammatical and spelling mistakes are the fault of the girls and no mistakes can or shall be attributed to the author of the blog becuz she is PERFECT):
Dear Miss Kon, I like you when you presenting the trophy to me. I will help MGS get a lot of big, huge trophys. I like your devotions too. You are my very very very best friend for ever: God bless you!
Yeah, just like my BFF Madonna. And how exactly are you going to 'get a lot of big, huge trophys'? Not by relying on your proficient English, I presume.

When I heard the news I was shocked. You have been in MGS for 30 years already. I like your morning devotions. I took a picture with you and the MG swimming team at the school nationals. Bye bye Miss Kon!
When I heard the news I was shocked too. 30 years is indeed a very long time. Oh wait, she was referring to the retirement.

Dear Miss Kon, Roses are red, violets are blue Your smile brings me joy to my day. When I see you, I feel like going close to you But I just let the chances go by each day
And she's not even Britney Spears or anything. (also: look out for the poetic devices!)

Dear Miss Kon, It is coming to your last day. Your smile is very nice and when you smile you look very kind. Whenever I want to go near you I feel shy because I have not seen you before, but I wish one day I was brave enough.
And again. What is with these girls?!

Ms Kon, when I always hear the morning devotions taken by you I get a sense that touchs my heart and when I see your smile I will start my own smile.
Really? All I sense during devotions is: nothing. Cuz I'm always half falling asleep. I mean I'm sorry and everything, but you wouldn't be able to help it either after listening to devotions every morning, discouting Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, for 9 years and counting.

Dear Miss Kon, You are a very beautiful principal. I wish that I could take a photograph with you before you leave and read one more devotions to me.
Very, very beautiful. Becuz I'm totally mincing my words.

Dear Miss Kon, I looked forward to school everyday as I could see your smile and appreciate the way you read the devotions to us. Most of the events at school were fun and I almost won second prize for everything.
Uh almost second prize? Which probably means a third forth fifth or sixth. Well done anyway LOSER.
