  • Dear Fellow Volunteer Board Members:

Thanks so much for sending me an email saying that you all have decided to meet on Wednesday morning and you'll see me there.  This is the second time you all must have juggled your schedules together and then kindly told me, with less than a week's notice, where and when you were meeting.

Is it so difficult to put me on the CC when sending out those emails saying, "let's meet"?  Or did you figure that I can just drop everything because I work at home?  Ah, there's a bit of irony.  This is a board for a writer's group, and yet, I'm the only full-time freelancer on the board.  That means I'm working for a living, believe it or not.

Obviously, you see me as an after thought.  So, I quit.

    Toodles,

    SG

    Dear Out-of-Town Friends:

We love seeing you, really we do.  We miss having you live here.  But would it kill you to give us a little warning that you are coming to town for the weekend?  Calling us on your drive in to ask "what are you doing tomorrow" just doesn't cut it anymore.  I heard the disappointment in your voice when I said we had plans for a part of the day, and I've heard the annoyance in your voice in the past when other friends couldn't spend time with you because they had plans they weren't breaking.  We all want to see you, but we do have lives!

    Love,

    SG

    Dear Sources:

Thanks for offering to help.  But you know, I give you those pesky deadlines for a reason. Like, my own deadlines.  So don't get pissy with me when you contact me three days later and I say the article is done and handed in.

    Fondly,

    SG

    Dear World:

    Don't annoy me anymore today.

    Grumpily yours,

    SG
