Low

John McCain pisses me off. Ridiculously. His advertisements make me want to vomit, especially the most recent one with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Because Obama is, of course, famous for like, the exact same reasons that they are. It's, like, such a great analogy. If Obama is all style and no substance, then why is McCain the one resorting to advertisements that say nothing about the relevant issues in this election?

Ugh.

I also find it funny that he uses Paris Hilton's image to draw a negative conclusion about Obama...when her parents donated $4,600 to McCain's campaign. Nice move.

And the best part about it...you set yourself up for ridiculous spoofs like this one...via Paris herself.

Glutton for punishment?

I think I have a problem. For whatever reason, I can't seem to take small semester. It just...doesn't happen. I am now realizing that I have not had a sub-18 credit semester since I started college.

Mid-vyed-iv

I am pretty sure that the only people who read xanga regularly are people that don't have xangas themselves. Namely, my family. Apparently they don't even read anymore because I update so rarely. So, in effort to retain my last little bit of readership, I decided I should probably write more.

It is so effing hot in Chicago. Some of my roommate's friends came over on Wednesday night for a "installing the air-conditioner" party. A word to the wise: Two relatively buzzed business administration majors from UIC will probably take over an hour to figure out a 10,000 btu window unit. If offered similar help in installing your own AC, you might be better off just doing it yourself.

Anyway, after a minor ordeal, my aforementioned air-conditioner is currently installed in the dining room, which is self-contained by doors at either entrance. Fortunately, my bedroom is right off the dining room and therefore manages to stay relatively cool. Rather unfortunately, the rest of the apartment is dreadfully hot. As a result, I've been cooped up in two rooms for the past couple days, darting into the kitchen hell only to get more water or nuke something that was most likely retrieved from the freezer. It is too hot to cook.

I've been reading alot about Russia lately....and the housing/credit crisis. The two do not appear to be related in a causal sense, at least---not that we know of. Both, however, are making me increasingly nervous. I have a feeling that Medvedev is going to swoop down from the Kremlin, buy all our defaulted loans, and then demand repayment in Euros...all while shutting off the gas to whoever tries to bail us out.

Greed is such a paradox. We need it to keep our global economy chugging along, but unchecked, well, it can ruin everything.

Yay for Summer!

I hope that I don't have to move again for, well, years. And if I do, I'm hiring my mom to come out here and be my moving director. Seriously, this woman is amazing. I think she might have Mrs. Weasleyesque powers in the realms of mildew-pulverizing and refrigerator sanitizing...I managed to squib-out in that department, unfortunately. Which is why my roommates and I are eternally grateful to my mother.

So here are the pictures of Chicago apartment no. 2

Ehhhhh.

A very important skill in life is knowing how and when to move on. Unfortunately, I still have alot to move on from. When life becomes lemon-filled, the only choice, really, is to make lemon drop martinis.

But I am moving to a new apartment in a few days. Pictures will follow when I get in there and set up and all.

Catering is still my life. But...on Thursday, I get to go work at Harpo Studios (where Oprah films her show). So you can be jealous of that :)
