The air conditioner man comes today
Omitting the adjective “repair” from this sentence conjures an image of a giant air conditioner with arms and legs that is coming to attack the house with a blast of ice-cold air.Strange mental imagery aside, this is good news. But more than that, today has been wonderfully cool. I spent the morning working at a picnic table on the Denny Terrace nature trail, grateful for the coolness. I stayed until noon, a full hour past the time I could stand it on any other day, and didn’t even break a sweat. And now I sit in Kaitlin’s house, throwing out heartfelt praises to God for the blessed 84 degrees inside. (For my northern friends, you may think this is hot, not cool, but you must understand that it has been gotten to around 98 degrees in the house every day since the air conditioner went out last Saturday, and around 102 outside (with humidity making it feel like 104).) I am also grateful that I don’t feel like I’m swimming through the air. It was so nice on my way back from the trail that I actually decided to take the long way home on my bike.
But praises aside, as I sit here and eat my lunch of couscous, raw green beans, toast, and a carrot, I know this sudden cooling trend will not last, and I am grateful for the air conditioner repair man, and hope he will have the ability to restore artificial cooling to my place of sleeping. But the wonderful breeze and cooler weather has spurred in me a spirit of contentment and gratitude I have not sported in some time.

in whole or in part...
Wow... sometimes I don't even really know how to process things...
"Mr Orie said the indictment included one count of genocide, once count of complicity of genocide, five of crimes against humanity, and four counts of war crimes.
The alleged crimes included Mr Karadzic's involvement in an attempt to destroy in whole or in part the Bosnian Muslim and Bosnian Croat ethnic groups."
For the whole story, Karadzic appears at Hague Court

Help a friend. Buy cool stuff.
So, my friend Emily is really awesome. I met her last year when she was my roommate in Serbia. I visited her in San Diego last month and was able to spend some great time exploring the city and getting to know her heart again. She is an amazing Christian willing to do whatever it takes to share the love of Christ with others. She spent the past two years working as an unpaid intern for an organization called Invisible Children (http://www.invisiblechildren.com). She is now living in San Diego, and God has given her and a few others a vision for some great things He wants to do there. These things include loving refugees in an urban neighborhood in San Diego, and fighting the sex trafficking industry between Bombay/Nepal through development projects and awareness campaigns. (To learn more, visit her blog at emilygracesuitcase.blogspot.com).
So, here's how you can help. Emily has a really cool online store where she sells jewelry and other things she makes. You should go there and buy things from her 1) because they're really cool and 2)because she could really use some financial help right now. So, go NOW and visit her site here:

Do it. Now.

wow, I'm actually really surprised
I'm a bit surprised this actually happened. But it is a good thing. And it does mean Serbia is one step closer to entering the EU, if that can actually happen. I'm not exactly sure what it will mean for the country. There are some people there who still believe he was a national hero... Please pray for the people of Serbia, particularly that there will be reconciliation between the Serbs and the Muslims.

I keep meaning to update this. I keep opening a new blog post and starting to write something, only to close it a few minutes later. Somewhere between the millions of things happening and yet the constant waiting, and my limited internet access, I keep losing whatever motivation i have to keep this updated. So, perhaps sometime in the near future I will fully update this xanga. But for now, this will have to suffice.
