THE BIG 9 - 0
Moma's birthday got off to a rather rocky start. I thought the worst when I got that 4:00 a.m. phone call from the nursing facility this morning. Why they couldn't wait until daylight to tell me she had fallen but wasn't hurt is beyond me! Then she called around 8:00a.m. to ask me if I knew where she put her teeth. LOL! I told her not to worry we would find them when I got there. When I arrived midmorning she was just getting back from bathing so I got to help her primp for her birthday luncheon. By then the missing teeth had been discovered in her nightstand drawer. She wanted to dress all in red from head to toe. (She even had on a red slip...) So we began her birthday celebration opening mail....
I hadn't been there long when her favorite nurse, Diana came in to check her vitals and be sure she had enough oxygen to do her until afternoon. (Mostly she just wanted to see the look on Moma's face when I told her we weren't having a picnic in the courtyard but were taking her out to eat.) Then the florist arrived with a delivery ~ a bouquet from my youngest brother's family...
Her face lit up like a Christmas tree when Em walked in with a balloon bouquet. Now the party was in full swing. My daughter seems to have that effect on people. BTW the elephant's name is Emiline...
Birthday hugs for Mammaw...
I hope I look this good at ninety!
At last hubby arrived and we took her out to KFC for chicken wings and all the trimmings. (This was answered prayer for favor. We had been told we couldn't leave the premises with her before April 23rd.) After we got her situated in the back seat with Em she just kept praising the Lord all the way to the restaurant. We drove her around town a bit so she could see the azaleas blooming everywhere then she wanted to stop by the cemetery to see Daddy's grave. (I ordered an Easter spray for Good Friday. I guess if I'd have been thinking I would have had it ready to place today.) Then we went back to her room for chocolate cream pie. We forgot to get a picture of us all piggin out on that !
She was worn out by then so I tucked her in for a nap and told her to call me when she woke up and I'd come back and visit some more. I took the granddog with me for the return visit. Moma was short of breath as usual, but still riding high from all the calls, visits and gifts of the day. I am so thankful the Lord has let us have her these past 90 years!

That is so exciting about your mother's birthday. She looks like the world is her "chocolate cream pie" with the big smiles and bright eyes. She had a good day and I pray that her bad days are further apart and short! I am also so excited that her fall was minor...and I don't know why the nursing home feels the need to wake people up in the middle of the night for an update on a fall when there are no issues. I guess they want to be sure their tail is covered and since they are awake maybe they think you should be awake too? LOL ...who knows.
Have an AWESOME, blessed and wonderful day!!!
Bless your mother's heart. She is so sweet looking. May the Lord Bless u this day!
