I admit it, I am a nerd. I enjoy reading, especially sci-fi fantasy, I think scrabble is the best game in the world, and I'm addicted to the computer. But, I never realized I was a trekkie.
Okay, so I'm not really a trekkie, but I might as well be. The secret name of my obsession is "DiscWorld." I have yet to go to a Disc World convention (they're all in the UK), but I've thought about it. And, I've even considered purchasing one of the many collectible lead figurines of the Disc World's many fantastic characters. Although, I like to think of them as friends.
I like to imagine the fun I'd have singing duets (triads) with Agnes Nitt. I'd take classes from Susan Sto Helit any day. And, well, I'm basically open to anyting Corporal Carrot Ironfoundersson wants to do. Anything.
There's nothing wrong with that. There are tons of other people doing it. And if those tons of other people wanted to jump off the brass bridge into the Ankh river, why I'd do that, too. I'd just shower afterwards.
Okay, so maybe I have a little problem. Maybe it's a tiny bit strange that I got uberly excited yesterday when I discovered that Josh Kirby, the original Disc World cover artist, also did cover art for "The Witches of Karres," another sci-fi favorite of mine. But I'm okay with that. I'm okay, your okay, and the nebulons are okay, too.
Anyone waiting in line with me the night before "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" opens? I've got my Wonko the Sane costume all picked out! |
