Babes in La-La Land
Last night was Willie Ames night on Cable. E! was doing a special on former child stars, and MTVH12 was showing Celebrity Fit Club.
Here is my problem with E!. Just because you played a teenager when you were 30, doesn't make you a child star. Here are examples of child stars: Winonna Ryder, MacCaulley Culkin (how the fudge do you spell that?), Drew Barrymore, Gaby Hoffman, Christina Ricci, Danny Bonnaducci, and anyone named Corey. Examples of people who were not really child stars: Bobby Brown, Selma Blair, anyone from 90210.
Also, these show about child stars gone bad make it seem like the worst thing you could do for your child is give them a career and a way to support themself. The problem with these people is not that they were child stars, but that they were child smack addicts. There is a big difference. And the problem with Willie Ames, was that he was never a child star, only a smack addict, and then he was God Man.

Just remember Ron Howard was a child star and he went on to direct "A Beautiful Mind." Natalie Portman went to Harvard (Yale maybe?), and Jennifer Beals, was not a childhood star, but sure makes a sexy Thespian Lesbian.
