My mom has these, not melons, but some chinese vegtable that looks kinda like a squash, but its green and fuzzy, and tastes real good when cooked with dried mini shrimp.  Well i was outside and noticed that they had sprung these little appendatures to grab onto the sticks of bamboo and support themselves while they continue to climb upwards.  What truly amused me was the fact that these small appendatures had curled themselves into springs before clamping on.  How smart!

How cool is that?
