Yesterday was kinda fun/kinda not. I had forgotten that it was the b-school's "block party", which as a staff member I am invited to, so we walked to the main building and they had a nice spread put out - they always do their "parties" catered, and they also had margaritas and white wine sangria, which was delicious.
When we left, it was around 3:30, and my 1 boss usually leaves at 4, so she handed me a plate of desserts to bring back for boss #2 (there are only 3 of us total in the office) who hadn't wanted to come. So I get there, and guess what - boss #2 has already left for the day. Leaving me there, alone, till 5. Boss #1 had thought boss #2 would let me out early, too, but she hadn't wanted to ACTUALLY let me out early, since #2 is higher up than #1. Grrrrr.
Boss #1 is out today though (taking the day off to play golf) so that might mean less work for me.
Also yesterday, the laundry door kept sticking, and I was convinced it was locked or something. My roomie figured out that you have to push it really hard to get it to open ... so instead of doing my 2+ loads of laundry yesterday, I'm going to have to do it today.

the requisite trip entry
To sum up:
-DC is awesome. Definitely wouldn't mind working there next year after I'm done w/ school, or going to grad school there (though the only one on my list is American, which I don't think is that great a school).
-NYC ... eh. Last year it was not that great (too much rushing around, I think) and this year was better but NYC is still too busy/hectic for my pace. We stayed in the city, which was nice, and our hotel was cool - great location, right near the subway. Getting out of NYC was ridiculous, we had this fast-driving cab driver named Boris (yes, Boris - I kid you not) and then our plane was delayed 1.5 hours, but it was WHILE we were on the plane - there was some bad weather in the Albany/Philly area, the pilot explained, so the FAA was reluctant in letting planes go. Fun stuff, let me tell you. So, I definitely do NOT
New York, lol.
Definitely not looking forward to going back to work today, either - I'm sure my desk is high with papers to file/fill out
.

Leaving for DC today (hence why I'm up at 7:12am!) ... I'll be there until 4pm Monday, and then we're taking Amtrak to New York, and coming back to Detroit from LaGuardia on Wednesday. I like going to airports I've never been to before, so it'll be interesting to see Reagan Airport (DCA - D.C.) and LaGuardia, though I've heard LAG is kind-of a pit ... this from my boss, who's from the NY area. Hmm.
Anyway, not sure if I'll have internet while I'm there (though I think my DC hotel has computers in the lobby?), so this might be my last post till next week. Meanwhile, some fun art fair pics for you to enjoy:

Art fair starts today! Flight to DC is tomorrow at 9:45am. When I woke up this morning, I could hear the art fair people on my street trying to set up and get everything ready before it "officially" opens at 10am ... I'm going to go at 5, after work
.
So Doubletree (where I'm staying in DC) sent me an email yesterday saying I could "e-checkin" and pick what room I want. Sounds cool, right? Well, the first email I got said I wouldn't be able to do that until 36 hours before check-in ... and yesterday it wouldn't work at all, and today is OFFICIALLY less than 36 hours till check-in, but it's STILL not working. By that, I mean that when I sign in, there's no "choose your room" option or anything like that. I emailed Guest Assistance but have not yet heard back from them
. I want a high room w/ a good view of DC, if possible. (our hotel is in Arlington, VA)

Earlyyyy dentist appointment today (9am, hence why I'm up at 8:10am). I was going to take the bus but Cassie has offered to drive me, which is nice. I peeked out the window in the foyer of my house this morning and 1/2 of my street is closed off for art fair - they other 1/2 is supposed to be 1-way, I'm not sure if they started that yet or not. Later I have to return DVDs - I finally watched "P.S. I Love You" and it was good but kinda sad ... didn't get to watch "Heathers," which I've heard is the original "Mean Girls" - and then I'll probably go to the CCRB later. I haven't gone in a week because my left leg was bleeding and my right leg was screwed up.

2 days till DC! 1 day till art fair!
