Fried Rice

Some people collect stamps, others collect rocks. Angelina Jolie collects children. I think of that Pokemon catchphrase, “Gotta catch ‘em all!” I bet she sits around with Brad Pitt throwing darts at a world map blindfolded for the next winner. I’ll admit though, she does have some great names for them: Maddox, Pax…although Shiloh sounds like a dog’s name. Anyway, they’re definitely going to be the coolest, trendiest kids in school with a mom like that.
So the other day I decided to pin my bangs to the back…and I guess I looked like a new person entirely. In my Finance class, I’m usually the earlier of the two people I sit with, and both blew past me to sit with others before turning around and exclaiming how they didn’t recognize me due to the hair (I get it if you don’t want to sit with me guys, but don’t make excuses!). Later in the library, a friend squinted at me from a far, walking towards me squinting some more muttering ”Err…Sarah???” before realizing it was me. After our classes, while we were spending quality time with the TV, my roommate told me she kept looking at me and doing double takes because she wasn’t used to seeing my beautiful forehead. I didn’t think it was THAT drastic! Maybe I should do my hair like this more often so everyone gets used to it.
My latest passion of late though, has been…mahjong. HAHA- yes, mahjong.
After re-learning it the other day, I was so
addicted that as soon as everyone left around 3:30 AM-ish, I immediately went
online and downloaded a mahjong game and proceeded to play for the next hour
and a half. Oh man, it is too much fun! I love yelling out “PONG!” and slamming the tiles to the
table. hahaha- However, before you judge
too harshly, lets just say that grandparents and the future in-laws are going
to LOVE me when I can play with them
for hours and hours while YOU who
shake your head in sad disbelief reading this right now…you’ll be the future
son/daughter-in-law sitting in the corner watching reruns of Full House on a rocking chair muttering to yourself on how you wish that
you too, would have had the foresight Sarah had, and not be ostracized as you
are now. Mm hmm. It’s called planning ahead.
Surprisingly my classes this semester haven't been all that bad...with the exception of accounting. I cannot stand that subject. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. Ugh. Everything else is doable although getting up at 7 AM twice a week IS pretty rough...especially to ice-skate. I swear 97% of students who signed up are pros whose joy in life is to taunt me and the other 3% by doing backflips on the ice while we cling desperately to the rails, cursing under our breaths. Ok i'm slightly exaggerating...I cling onto the instructor begging her not to go so fast since I JUST learned to go backwards decently, and now...she wants us to glide backwards on the ice while lifting a leg behind us. Uhhh...I DON'T THINK SO LADY!
Besides the ice skating stress, the past two weeks have been amazing. I was utterly free for once. Now this is what college should be about! I have never been this free ever in the history of my enslavement at Texas A&M. Of course, the days flew by before I realized, but dammit, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I mean, all I did was watch TV and think about working out (ie: laying in bed picturing the "intense" workout I would be participating in at the rec. I'm there with everyone else in spirit) with the occasional shower here and there.
I’m definitely still in spring break mode.
