  • I can do nothing else

You're a painting with symbols deep
A symphony, soft as it shifts from dark beneath
A poem that flows, caressing my skin
In all of these things You reside and
I want to flow from the pen, bow, and brush
Then paper, string, and canvas touch
With ink in the air to dust your light
From morning 'til the black of night

This is my call, I belong to You
This is my call, to sing the melody of You
This is my call, I can do nothing else
    I can do nothing else

You're the scent of an unfound bloom
A simple tune, I only write variations to
A drink that will knock me down to the floor
A key that will unlock the door
Where I hear a voice sing familiar themes
Then beckons me weave notes in between
A bow and a string, a tap and a glass
You pour me, 'til the day has passed

This is my call, I belong to You
This is my call, to sing the melody of You
This is my call, I can do nothing else
    I can do nothing else

This is my call I belong to You
This is my call to sing the melodies of You
This is my call I can do nothing else
    I can do nothing else
This is my call I belong to You
This is my call to sing the melodies of You
This is my call I can do nothing else
    I can do nothing else

  • Behind My White Picket Fence

    Behind my white picket fence
    Mommy is cooking spaghetti
My brothers play catch with neighbors
Dad watches a black and white oldie
and sister and I are having tea
All behind my white picket fence

    Behind my white picket fence
    Momma's changing the sheets
The dog is chasing her own tail
    Daddy works on the computer
and the four of us are playing house
All behind my white picket fence

    Behind my white picket fence
    Mom is taking a nap
My sister sings as she dances
    Dad, he mows the lawn
and I climb my favorite tree
All behind my white picket fence

    The hibiscus bloom abundantly
Leaves fall for piles in which to play
Rain trickles down the window to a puddle
and the wind blows through the trees

    Behind my white picket fence
    My mommy, she is crying
Brothers and sister fight and scream
    My father's fists are swinging
and hiding in my closet, I am longing for some safety
All behind my white picket fence

I thought you'd never make me feel this way again
I thought you'd never make me feel this way ever
    Promises that keep shattering
Words that keep slithering through your teeth
A heart wasted oh so much
A mind thought it knew better
    A body violated
And eyes that can't believe they're flooding again
We have all the time in the world to get it right
But what if I'm not wrong to begin with?
    I don't inflict it
I don't bring about my own pain
I'm not the reason it all goes wrong
    . . . I don't think
    Yet it happened again
    Hurt
    Abused
    Used
    Not fully seen
    Not ever heard
    Always just one thing
    Never everything
Like one piece to a puzzle
Never seeing or caring about the completed picture
    The whole thing -
    Beautiful
    Priceless
    Precious
    But you never see

  • He will possess my heart

how I wish you could see the potential
the potential of you and Me
it's like a book elegantly bound
but in a language that you can't read just yet

you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart
you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart

there are days when outside your window
I see My reflection as I slowly pass
and I long for this mirrored perspective
when we'll be lovers, lovers at last

you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart
you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart

    I will possess your heart
    I will possess your heart

you reject My advances and desperate pleas
I won't let you, let Me down so easily
    so easily

you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart
you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart
you gotta spend some time, love
you gotta spend some time with Me
and I know that you'll find, love
    I will possess your heart

    I will possess your heart
    I will possess your heart
    I will possess your heart
