Bravery, or Fear?
OK, I guess I'm developing a fondness for writing posts late at night (currently 11:05 at night, I just got back home). I dunno ... nowadays, it seems like there's this part of me that's activated, and basically all it does is make sure that I immediately finish whatever it is that I have to do, so that I won't have to remember it. Definitely a trait that will come in handy when school starts, which is ... *flicks hand like the movie stars, lifts up wrist, and reads super-cool gadget watch* ... in approximately 6 full days and one night. Lol, I've had too many movies.
Anyways, you guys are probably still wondering why I am writing a post now, and what's the title all about. Well, to cut straight to the point, I just finished watching the movie Transformers. And bottom line? Loved it. You know, there are always these times when I think, "Oh, it's just another movie about bravery. Almost all movies are about bravery and courage, how can it get any better?" And then along comes these times when a really good movie blows you off your chair. And Transformers was one of those. But there is some truth to my thinking; I wasn't really appreciating the movie for it's moral theme. I going mainly concentrating on the action, and you know how all teenage boys love gadgets, hahahahaha. Throughout the whole thing, I forgot about myself, any troubles, my life, where I was at the moment, too. It was just the movie. Well, maybe my evaluation of the movie would be slightly different than that of the average guy, because I've read about Optimus Prime and Megatron from before, so I already knew where the exposition was heading off to. So the beginning was a slight drag, and in the end, all the robots were basically all silver, so it was hard to tell who was good and who was bad. But as for hard-packed action, it's 100% charged. Awesome movie with tons of action.
But here's the part that the title comes in. "Is it bravery, or is it just fear?" Megatron was saying that to taunt Sam, the main male character. Sam had the Cube in his hand, the source of unlimited power, and he was hanging on the the statue at the roof of the cathedral, with nowhere to go but down. Now, I remember that phrase, and it kicks the gears of my mind into motion. It makes me think: what about us Christians? Do we go on because of bravery, or because of fear? Or is it both? Or none? Or something else altogether?
I think that we go on because of love - love for Jesus, and ultimately, love for ourselves. Right now, my mind is still geared into the speed of the movie, so I can't stop and slowly think about this topic. So I want to know, what do YOU think? What do we go on for?
And next time, I'll make it a priority to explain how come I said "love for Jesus, and ultimately, love for ourselves" and not "love for ourselves, and ultimately, love for Jesus." But I might change my mind about this order before tomorrow. However, I got an idea in my head, and it's gonna come out one way or another, but just another day.
Well, I want your opinions, people. So, until next time, ta-da!

Great post! Transformers is really a nice movie. I agree... We, Christians choose to live righteously because of love. "God's perfect love drives away our fears." :)
We go on because we should press forward, forgetting what lies behind, like Paul said in Philippians 3. It's a constant striving for the goal, a constant pushing ourselves, like the athlete.
I read once that bravery is not the absence of fear, but rather being able to have fear and go on anyway. I heartily agree with that concept.
God Bless you!
Hello Godfrey,
You worked hard to make your site so simple yet elegant. I see that you are a student. I’m glad that’s all over with for me!
I like to write articles about God and religion on my site. I want to help people to really get to know God, especially in these troubled times. Jesus gave us a message of hope that is in the Bible: 14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." (Matthew 24:14) (ESV) I hope you get a chance to look at them.
