Gateway Update
1. The very very thin oil paint for the front part of the door just wouldn't dry due to humidity.
1a. When BF attempted to take off the painter's tape, the un-dry oil paint smudged unmercifully.
1b. BF decided blowing a fan in the direction of the un-dry paint would hasten its drying. All it did was blow cat hair onto the paint.2. Somewhat related, the very very thin oil paint leaked through the painter's tape and the dropcloth, causing red spots on our slate entryway floor.
3. The new weatherstripping just plain fell off when we walked inside tonight.
Ugh.

So, the repair is coming along nicely, then...
I feel your pain on weather stripping. Sucks about the paint + cat hair.
Oh The Gateway Project seems just about ready for a government contract. My sympathies!
I laughed. Sorry, it was mean, but I couldn't help myself. If it's any consolation, I live in a (mostly) owner-built house, which means plenty of SNAFUs and lots of unfinished projects.
How awful! Weather stripping beats me down every time I use it. That and plastic wrap are my enemies for life.
Seriously, you and BF totally need your own show on HGTV or other such network. I would totally watch.
@TimsHead - It would probably have to be HBO given the volume of liquor consumed to make home improvement/baking projects move forward, and the extreme blue language. There are words we use I seriously didn't even know we knew that only come out during home improvement projects.
Small world, re: your time in the Zoo. I worked for several years at Athena (it was the best job I'll probably ever have) and became quite close to the owner and the staff. I actually cried when they told me they were closing, which seems silly I guess, but they really were like family and the store my home. Anyway, strange, small world. Oh--and good luck with the Gateway--sounds like you might need it.

How much is the per-hour rate of painters out there?
