| | losing a shoe in the subway could be possibly one of my greatest fears ever. every morning as i board any train i take extra care in making sure my shoes are on tight as i quickly make that transition from platform to train.
this saturday things did not go so smoothly for me and my feet. after dinner as i raced to the train pulling into the station, i felt my shoe fly off my foot. looking back, i gasped in horror as i watched it teetor dangerously between the platform and that empty 6 inch void to the train. and inevitably in my enebriated state as i leaned forward to save it, i nudged the shoe in the WRONG DIRECTION. it was surreal.
onlookers heard my bloodcurdling scream "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU FUCKERS!!" echo throughout the train. what's worse was that the train didn't even leave for another 5 minutes which is 5 minutes longer i had to sit there in humiliation cursing myself. little kids chuckled at me. one lady even offered me her sock.
my only consolation is that it was just the half of a $3 flipflop from old navy. |
