    MY REALITY TELEVISION PARTNER

    Challenge 2008-09

Imagine you have been selected for a reality television show i.e. Big Brother, Survivor, et all.  You have to choose someone to share this experience with,  your own partner.  Who would you choose?  Why?

One must be fully aware at the onset that I am not and probably will not ever be a reality TV person. So this will be perhaps not as accurate as some would prefer. All I can base my perception on is little glimpses of previews, rumors, innuendos and of course reliable second hand, next day, half awake, semi-recollected renditions from passers by and strangers.

Wait, I lie. I do watch “Whose wedding is it, anyways?” and “Clean house”. But they don’t count as I’ve been married 36 years and I don’t envision myself ever trying that again. As for Clean House, I can’t understand the whole concept of living up to your neck in the middle of a rummage sale and then letting someone else sort out all your garbage. It’s all no, no, no until they see what somebody else’s money, talent, and hard work has done for them. Then it’s bring it on and be sure to come back in two years so you can do it all again. Life Leaches.

I’ve seen bits of Bad Girls. Now there’s a bunch of numb minded wenches. All that yelling, screaming, waving their arms and running their mouths while completely unaware of the disconnection between the brain and the tongue can’t possibly be considered talent. Being able to spout the longest string of off color words combined to portray an imaginative yet nearly impossible scenario at the top of one’s voice does not make up for an all expenses paid trip to the hoosegow.  In my neighborhood you kept quiet. Let them wonder where the sugar in the gas tank came from. Needless to say, my perception of reality shows is somewhat jaded. Back stabbing, even with a smile, is no longer my modus operandi. Don’t even mention the dancing, singing, traveling stuff. That takes talent of which I have less than nil.

I simply do not play well with others when left to my own inclination. I’ve spent a lifetime learning to get along with people. I don’t think I can conscionably render all that work worthless. I’ve remolded myself into a kinder gentler termagant. Otherwise, I would not only be the first voted off; they would probably be taking me out feet first in a pine box right behind the other three people that I had single handedly critically wounded. No, just can’t picture myself up there on the big screen cutting throats and stabbing backs. It wouldn't be pretty.

My acquired style is much more Ninja; quiet, stealthy, monosyllabic and extremely good at making anything a weapon. So my partner would have to good at ducking. Yes, ducking and mind reading and coffee making. I won’t participate unless there is coffee and lots of it. I think that, Natalie, who plays Monk’s assistant, would do very well. Compliant, knows how to make the boss happy but not so easy as to keep the game interesting.  The fact that competiton is bound to release my internal overbearing know-it-all attitude would only stir the reformist in her. So,as soon as they have “OCD Ninja’s hyped on Caffeine” as a reality choice, you can count me in. Ok, Natalie, wipes, nunchakus, china coffee cup with Chuck Norris on it. Ready. Let’s go. Unfortunately, I doubt this format would prove very entertaining as Ninja’s do most of their work at night or hidden or invisible, whichever the situation demands. Natalie could handle it though. Everything would be in order, straightened and categorized. Whatever the challenge, Natalie, would prepare the needed materials and produce them on cue.

“Ninja One, did you scale the wall and retrieve a Golden Apple?” “Yes, here it is.” “Ninja Kathy, did you scale the wall and retrieve a Golden Apple?” “Yes.” “Where is it?”  “Natalie has it and has sanitized and polished it to perfection.”

Well, that’s it for tonight. Tune in next week when the OCD Ninja’s must find a black cloth flag at midnight, guarded by bats, during the New Moon.

    (Natalie don’t forget the net)

    MiLady,

I think Nat would be a great choice!  You're right, she is compliant, reliable and just quirky enough to "go with the flow".  Great entry!  You've been linked and starred!~Kween

I'm not familiar with Natalie but she seems like she would be a great choice! Great entry!

We don't get to watch that show, since we have the cheapest cable service available, but just this morning, oddly enough,  I requested the first season from the library.

Cracked up at "In my neighborhood you kept quiet. Let them wonder where the sugar in the gas tank came from. "

    Heh.

I read back a few entries, and those flower pictures were stunning!

RYC:  Thank you!  She goes to The Ohio State University, but will be looking at graduate schools after one more year.  Any recommendations? The problem we are seeing is that the schools her professor would like her to audition for are all schools where it is assumed that one can be supported by one's parents during the endeavor toward at least a Masters degree (and that is NOT the case; we are tapped out after next year).  Should be an interesting search...

@suzyQ_darnit - My sister did her graduate work at a private college in Albany NY. It really depends on what her masters is going to be. Most students can find work in the larger Metro areas. The only prob is the money. Grad work is so expensive. Many people have to do their masters as part time for that reason. My daughter was able to continue on with her grad work with only one small loan since we had been able to "keep" her while she was an undergrad. Sister worked and studied. Son is still working on his. (Family and crazy shift work keep him from being a full time student) He already has degrees in Engineering from RPI (major tech school) but wants to tweek his masters in a different direction. So back to the top..What does she intend to be her master?

    Great post!

I would have to pick my niece Jenny if she could get a babysitter,or from Xanga Angi1972 is funny and a lot like me but maybe we would stop to take to many photos ,I think I will go with  CynaraJane who seems to know everything or Miguel who has survivor instincts.

*rolls on the floor laughing* Wonderful post!

  • GrannyHappyNanny

Interesting writing!  You have a way with words.  I really enjoyed your last post.  I think we have all had things like this happen to us and are very thankful that things turned out ok.  I know I could share some tails from my oldest.  She was something else!

  • tkperito

@seedsower - really depends upon the show. We were free to invent our own so, go ahead, invent one that fits your friends, lifestyle and strengths. Then knock the socks off the rest of the competion. We could all watch from home and cheer.... You Go girl..... Seedsower ROCKS....

  • tkperito

@silkenbutterfly - @GrannyHappyNanny - Thank you for your kind comments. I am trying to develope a few new interests that will be able to follow me into the retirement years.....

  • Glittered_Depression

This storm has also taught me to be prepared with plastic and duct tape. *nod*

  • tkperito

@Glittered_Depression - I was really worried for you. It can be so dangerous to be in a windowed room during a tornado. We know that we have to head for the celler whenever one is one the ground. Just about 10 years ago we had a "day" where many storm cells and tornadoes passed over our home. That was the first time I have ever seen a funnel cloud pass by. They touched ground about 20 miles east of us. The destruction was so terrible. Please keep yourself safe if you ever hear of another coming your way.

Thank you. This is the first time I've participated in a writing challenge. The pictures just seem to happen for me. I picked up a camera in Nov 2007 and still am not able to do more that point and click. I'm hoping to pick up a class on digital photography sometime in the fall.

  • NightlyDreams

i probably wouldn't have though of natalie as being my partner.  she does do well keeping monk mostly out of trouble.  and is a good thinker so i can see why she would be good.

  • bubblysox

good choice!! Thats funny about the golden apple. Its hard to really pick someone if you haven't watched the other reality shows... but you did good.

  • closethippie

This could work.  I could tolerate hiring and sending others to do the real work and I could get the reward.  Gotta think about that.

  • Safeinsidemyyou

Interesting choice.  Welcome to the Kween's blog ring!  Thank you for sharing.

  • madamzephyrus

    OCD ninja... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

    Loved it.

  • harmony0stars

LOL I'm with you, reality tv sucks... but I'll definitely check out your show "OCD Ninja’s hyped on Caffeine" should it ever come to public television! lol

  • endlesssummer128

Great entry!  I do enjoy Monk, and agree that Natalie would make an excellent partner.  Welcome to the Kweens blogring!
