WHEN GOOD TOYS GO BAD

File this one under "How Necessary Is This?"  The US Public Interest Research Group has released its annual list of toys that kill.  After reading the statistics on how many children have been killed in the last 15 years by toys (272), one has to wonder if the negligence for these deaths can't be placed with, oh, I don't know, the parents?!

On average, 272 deaths over the past 15 years is 18 per year.  In a country this size (nearly 300 million), one might surmise that this is a sign of progress.  Of course, none of these children are/were my own, so I cannot fathom what it must be like to lose your child to a Weeble-related incident.

Adorable plaything or deadly weapon?  You decide.

In our day, the weeble was a friendly being. We knew how to play with our toys, and that is just what the kind weeble was. Today, they are "choking hazards" and are the size of a grown man's fist. Not so friendly. More like a grenade to toss at someone's head.

The answer to your question is thus: To today's children, who lack discipline and self-control, the weeble is evil. To us, a friendly thing from our childhood.

That's an old-school Weeble.  The new ones are huge, so you have to push really hard to get one down a child's esophagus.
