| | Lineage in retrospect.Many of us have been playing Lineage for many years. Those of us who have half a brain will realize that there is more to the Lineage game experience then just the 2D game play that we have grown to love and even hate.
Communication:
Lineage requires an incredible amount of communication. Yes i realize this is common sense. But to most players, this aspect of Lineage reaches out side the boundaries of the 2D world. Most avid Lineage players maintain contact with their fellow players in real life. Keeping this in mind, what is to say that enemies cannot reach out also?
To the ordinary generic non-gamer. This would seem rather ridiculous to contact someone you dislike in real life. After all Lineage is a game, an escape from the day to day mundane garbage we all live in. Why would we amalgamate the two together? Sadistic humor for one. Greed is also a large factor. Lineage is very time consuming. "Time is money" is a popular catch phrase known to most wealthy or intelligent players. The more time you spend in Lineage the stronger you become.
The more time we spend in Lineage, it is safe to assume that we get weaker in real life. Ofcourse there is a perfect balance between real life and Lineage. But to the avid player who chooses to mix them together... real life is just another aspect to game play. Lies, scamming, violence, theft and harassment are just some of the tools players use out side the game to manipulate their status in game.
By influencing someone in real life, you can ultimately decide the out come of their actions and choices inside the Lineage world. In essence, the common Lineage player with this ability could infact predict the future events inside the game.
Social status.
An interesting aspect of lineage, social status. Its one thing to be strong in game and achieve an incredible level. But its another to be famous or well known. Remembering that fame is just not for the adored, but the hated aswell. Lineage becomes more then just a point and click game when the very character of your alter ego becomes important. Important to the final destination of your game.
If you lack the charisma to raise your social status to its desired peak. You will be missing out on much of the games benefits.. as you will not have the popularity to enjoy some of the more rare experiences Lineage has to offer. Such as achieving a fan base.
Fan Base.
Only the most dedicated Lineage players have a fan base. There is no rule book or strategy guide on how to grow a fan base. It sort of just happens as you play. Fans are players who admire you in game.
Why is a fan base important? Having fans means you are supporting the first social aspect of Lineage. Communication. Fans are players. Players populate the game. If you can inspire a player to participate in Lineage to play more, to have fun, or to practice the morals or ethics you support. Then the game becomes a better place for you and like minded players.
Fans are extremely important. They make up what Lineage is. Every player in Lineage has had a role model or hero they can remember. That person inspired them to play longer, harder and generally develop in thier foot steps. The Fan base is what we are. I even had a hero once who no longer plays.. but because of him. I continued to play and till this day, it was his influence and impact on my Lineage life that kept me here. Because of that player, you are reading this now. With out "my hero". This site would not exist.
Hopefully my wonderful fan base will one day be the same. They will grow and develop on their own. Some day carry the fate of Lineage or any game on their backs as we all do now, and inspire new generations of players.
Lineage is your game. How you play it is up to you. Are you a quiet antisocial leveler? Or a highly influencial role? Every action you make influences the fan base and in conclusion, the very future of the game.
What im trying to say is, Im greatful for everyone who visits my site. Friend and enemy. Its the players that keep the game alive. Not NC. With out us there wouldnt be a Lineage.
What have you done for Lineage? Do you feel you support the game and encourage growth. Or maybe you quietly mind your self and let the game rot around you for what ever excuses you have. Remember what I tried to say.. There are many aspects of Lineage people choose to ignore. Important ones that decide all of our fates.
