DEFINE WHO YOU ARE
Kween's challengeHere are your parameters:
This DOES NOT mean what you do for a living, or who you are in your family. I don't want you to write about being a Father or Mother or Daughter or Son. In fact, leave your family and your job out of this entirely. I want you to tell us what makes YOU tick. How do you see yourself? Are you talented? Frustrated? Happy? When you think about this definition, think about YOURSELF. What makes you who you are? What dreams do you think about? What does it take to let you feel that you are worthy or good or respected? Who are you? Make this your own. You can write or post pictures or put up your art or poetry, whatever you like! We love seeing it!
Wow, this was a tough challenge. Hence the term Challenge. This might have been easier 6 months ago but then again we can't use family so maybe not. Ok so What makes ME tick? Who am I really?
I would have to start by saying that I am a shoulder to lean on when a friend is in need. I am a huge pair of ears to listen when things are tough. What makes me tick is the ability to help others and to try and make everyone feel a bit more special than they might otherwise. I am the ocean waves trying to wash away all the sadness or hurt those around me might feel. I am a ray of sunshine. I say what I think and I mean what I say. I am confident like the proud lion but vulnerable like the small little mouse. I open up easily but close quickly if I feel threatened.
Ok so what else defines me? I don't like boundaries but know they are needed.
I know. If we looked up definition in the dictionary and then a sub heading of "what defines Deanna" it might have this description.
1. strong willed
2. loving
3. a little rapscallion
4. sweet
5. daring
6. confident
7. bull headed
8. child like
9. stubborn
10. talker
11. listener
12. proud
13. friendly
14. lonely
15. sad
Ok so I guess that's it. I am sure there is more but can't really think of it right now.

Happy May 1st.

MiLady,
I enjoyed reading this! Very well done. You've been linked and starred~Kween
Thanks for sharing with us! I think that all of those descriptors are good ones... even the *stubborn* ones, because that's necessary sometimes.
this was so nice, as were your very sweet comments you left me earlier today =)
glad we reconnected, too...
I am off to sleep in a bit...but first, I plan to look up the definition of "rapscallion"
hugs back at'cha ~
It's so weird...I was just thinking about you this week and hoping I hadn't lost touch since I had been gone so long. That's a great description of yourself. I would really have to think HARD to come up with that many things about me...but dingy does come to mind.
Will go back and try to read some posts I've missed. Hugs!!
Oh Oh I am glad you are back. How have you been? Missed you .
You were one of my first subscribers.
My work is all messed up now. But I hope to get around with my comments.
Glad to see you back.

Bull headed? Right in the middle of everything....sounds like...I am fun to be with but don't mess with me.
Good job! I think you are pretty accurate in describing yourself, from what I know about you. I think you are a very strong person.
You ARE a ray of sunshine!
I'll vouch for the good listener part :) You've been a great "huge pair of ears" for me before.
{{hugs}}
Bullheaded can be a good thing!
Dear Deanna,
I'm visiting from the Kween of the Queens site, where I understand you are a new member. Welcome to the blogring. Also, thank you for responding to my entry to this challenge, and for the birthday wishes.
Everybody is saying that this is a difficult challenge for them. I guess since I'm constantly "defining myself" as I have no family to speak of, it was not that difficult for me.
I like your metaphor of being the ocean waves that wash hurt and sadness away.
Because of your profile name, and because I have never visited you before, I looked at your profile, where you matter of factly state that your "husband of 40 died of a heart attack". You have recently had some great sadness in your life. My deepest condolences on your loss, and my deepest respect for your tenacity and spirit.

I thought this was pretty tough too! So much of how we define ourselves is with regard to other people. When you strip that away, it's kind of hard to think about who you are really. I think you did a great job though!
Beautifully written! Thanks so much for sharing,
Have a nice evening,
Love, Cyn
A little rapscallion
... That's a good thing. Nice post - to the point. I agree - this was a hard challenge. peace
It is hard sometimes to define yourself without leaning on the role specific others (such as family) play in your life. I think you did very well taking a good look at you. It's wonderful to be a vent for people, they really need someone they can do that to.
You sound... nice.
I have enjoyed reading your answer to this challenge.
You came up with a lot adjectives to describe yourself. I don't know if I could do as well. I enjoyed reading this...thanks for sharing.
I love #3! Cool site, by the way. I like your layout.
greaat list and i look forwrard to knowingyou better, well done
Great list! I liked what you said about being confident and vulnerable, too!
A Ray of Sunshine! That holds a lot of meaning. Good for you.
