  • Ok...it is long but I haven't updated for almost 2 weeks! Sorry!

EDIT Below - I have uploaded my new picture of me in my jeans below all the videos.

It has been a while since I have posted. Life in general is really keeping me busy!

Mom had her surgery and on Sunday Feb 24 I went to pick her up and  by the time I got her home she had what appeard to be a stroke. Her right side of her face was sloping down, she had very little movement (if anything) on her right side. So I took her right back to the hospital. She had what is called a TIA. It is a stroke but there is very little perm. damage. (This is what happened this past summer as well.) They finally re-admitted her and kept her for 4 additional days. She did have a few more mild TIA's while in there but they did all the test you can possibly imagine and there was nothing that they could see. So the doctor wanted to put her on Cumadin (sp) but given her history of falling and stuff, it was not the best decision and her PCM and I have decided not to put her on it. She could have a stroke on it or off it so the cost of possibly bleeding out is far greater that the possible benefit from the drug.

    Biggest Loser Update

This is my video from week 7

This is my video from Week 6

This is my explanation for all the "controversey".

Ok...I am (as of yesterday) in 3rd place. Not bad. I have lost a total of 15.3 pounds so far from this contest and a total of 67.9 total since July 23.

I went to the radio station yesterday morning and one of best friends Kelli showed up to offer me moral support. Wednesday night was not a good night for me. I seem to be having a major issue with my ear. I am getting REALLY dizzy so I ended up not finishing the entire workout.(more on that to come) I guess the good thing was that I did an hour on the elliptical and 40 minutes on the treadmill even before I started the workout.

Anyway…So I get weighed in and they bring us in to be on the radio. I lost 2.1 pounds – and now down to 155.1 pounds! I am the lightest contestant in the game. WOW! I did bump down to 3rd place but oh well…the big thing for me is that I am down to 155.1 pounds! I am just a mere 15.1 pounds away from my goal! I just can’t believe it!!!

So Kelli was telling me that Macy’s had jeans on sale. I am in desperate need of jeans. Even Megan’s jeans are too big for me now. And her belts are way too big for me! I felt bad because I couldn’t wear one of her belts because it was too big. So Kelli and I went to Macy’s and I bought a pair of Apple Bottom Jeans for $34! And a real cute belt as well for $22! I just couldn’t believe the size that I had to get on the jeans – a size 9! WOW!!!!  I have not been a size 9 since 2001! I will get the kids to take a picture of me in my new jeans and post it later.

    Update on my dizzy spells

I went to the Acute Care Clinic yesterday. I have been having some major issues with my ear and have been getting dizzy a lot and so I figured it must have been an inner ear infection. Or the one thing that have dreaded for the past few years.

So the doctor gets to looking in the ear and she tells me my worst nightmare – it is in fact not my ear but my jaw! Back when I was in High School I had a kid cold cock me in the jaw and dislocated it. My mom never really was concerned about my jaw when it happened – just the braces on my teeth. So we never really did much about it.

As I got older I developed TMJ because of the dislocation of my jaw. And of course insurance does not like to pay for much of any treatment for TJM because they considered it self-inflicted. But mine was not.

In 2001 I actually had a great PCM and they referred me to an Oral Maxial Facial doctor to get treatment. I had to drive all the way from LR to Oklahoma City but the doctor there had gotten Tricare to pay for surgery before by wording the request the correct way. And since it was an injury that was the underlying cause and it was medically necessary they paid (I might add only 1/3 of the fees) for my jaw to be broke on one side only (he didn’t want to do both sides because of healing time and everything) and my PT afterwards. He told me that I would need to have the other side done in a few years as it would only get worse because of the strain on the jaw.

So…it seems it is now that time! YUCK! The doctor in the ACC couldn’t issue the referral so she wanted me to get into my PCM ASAP to get a referral to an oral maxial facial surgeon. I called as soon as I got out of the ACC and was basically told that I couldn’t get into my PCM until next week! WTH! So I have an appointment next week. I am going to call the doctor in OKC to see if he has any colleagues here in CO that might be able to help me. I have EVERY bit of my medical records from the last time where it was documented that the other side would need to be completed at a later date. I just really didn’t want this fight right now! I am in a ton of pain. It hurts to keep my mouth shut (because I use my jaw muscle to keep it shut) my ear is killing me because of the pressure that is on the ear, my headaches are only getting worse and now my arm is killing me because they game me a shot to help alleviate the pressure in the ear.

I did find a board certified Oral Maxial Facial doctor here in CO Springs and one in Aurora as well. But that is it for one within a 500 mile radius!

So…wish me luck all! I would like to get this done by this summer so that I can fully recoup by next fall!

    Update on School

This would be the reason I am so far behind. I have mid-terms all this week and 2 huge projects due - one today and then one due next Wed. YUCK! I did really bad on my test in finance - a 64% but I had some extra credits so I used them to bump up my grade to a 72% but still...I am just not into school this sememster - Too Many Other Things To Worry About!

Girl....I don't even know how you are keeping your sanity! (Are you? )

A few months ago, Beth was having a bad problem with TMJ. The dentist gave her Vicodin for the pain, and it did help some, but not much. They told her to use ice packs, but even that did not help much. It has gotten a little better, and her migraines are not as frequent.

Praying now for your mom. My dad has TIA's all the time. He is on Coumadin, but still has to take Plavix for the TIA's.
