so my old dual xeon machine died... well i kind of indirectly killed it... in an attempt to quiet down the machine, i went from the 11 case fans down to 2 fans and water cooling... at first, it ran beautifully, with better overclocking and cooler overall temps... but occasionally i would come home to the smell of burned circuitry... i didn't think much of it at the time, it smelled like burning about 4 times total, but it was always minor, no smoke, no flames... i also didn't really think much of the fact that i had to refill the reservoir more than i should have... those two things should have indicated that i had a leak... but im lazy, and the computer still worked, so why bother... so on monday (5/21), i came home to a blue screen of death, the first one i've had on the computer in over a year... i reboot and nothing... i turn off the power supply and try again... this time, it just beeps from the internal speaker... nothing fixed it... it's dead... stupid watercooling...

anyway... so im building a new one... ordered the parts from newegg, it came out to almost exactly $1400 shipped, and the parts also have about 200 bucks in mail-in rebates, so it's about $1200 total... all the parts arrived yesterday, and i started putting it together and i just have to transfer one more hard drive from the old machine and it'll be done and i can start installing windows tonight...
