What do you call those...l33k, chatspeak, textalk is becoming increasingly popular. Colleges are starting to let their
19+ year old students put btw and ne1 on their papers. We are starting to use it in actual conversations! My friend Anna said she knew a guy who put "lol" after everything he
said (meaning coming from the
mouth) which is why she doesn't say lol anymore. Someone sent me a message on Gaia that I couldn't even read because it was so l33k-butchered, and when I told her she got mad at me. How was I supposed to know that regular typing was so offensive? Are we so lazy we can't even type out full words? I never was too much of a victim of this epidemic, but it is very contagious. Maybe this came to being because the English language is so complicated.
