What is it

about knitting? I mean really. I've crocheted for YEARs. Caron and Red Heart were good enough for me. I would see patterns(mainly doilies) that I liked. But knitting...I've gone from "If I don't learn THIS time, I'm never buying another needle." to a 3 ring binder so full of printerd patterns that I want to make that I can't close it and a stash of yarn bigger than my fabric stash. And I've got well over 500 dollars woth of fabric!! And I can't stop collecting patterns. I keep finding these things that just make me go "Knitting. Mmmmmmmm."

Like this one:

Edit: Oh and only Addi seems to make the needles in the right size to make this headband. I can't imagine using a 12 inch circular needle. 16 inch is super short! But if I want to make this I A) need to learn to use the shorter needles and B) learn to read a chart! LOL

Click the picture for the pattern by the way.

And THIS one:

Click the picture to go to the site where you can buy the pattern.

And then there's the YARNS. Oh heavenly heavenly yarns. Mari started this whole yarn snob thing. Between her and the woman that sent me my very first skein of self-striping yarn........I was hooked.

how can you resist wool/silk blends like these with names like:

Turquiose Splendor

Maple Leaf

Deep Woods

Redhead(which is BTW a spun silk costing 60 dollars for 1200 yards!-oh heavenly heavenly stuff!)

Monaco

or Envy?

I just don't get it. The passion for knitting has taken me totally by surprise. I am completely and wholly addicted to it. I used to look at hand knit patterns with disdain-of course that was before I could knit. And now, well, I just can't explain it.  There's just something about knitting.

Those yarns ARE lovely! Especially the top two, but "Redhead" is nice, TOO. I wonder if GUYS knit, it looks and sounds like such fun!!!!!You know, your last paragraph could easily be adapted into a POEM....

"...addicted to it

...just don't get it

...before I could knit

...can't explain it......"

(Lol), I guess I'm answering my own question, if it's okay for me to think of a POEM regarding knitting, it must be okay for a guy to KNIT!

Anyway, I hope YOU write the poem but whether or not you do, I enjoy reading of the passion you have for your newpassion! And it produces SUCH beautiful, worthwhile finished products!!!! I'm off to have prayer time in the cemetery.....

I just left MARI a comment, told her to check out your new site here in case she hasn't already......I mentioned your work on her shawl. Also, I was telling BETH-MOM about your site......she says in Japan, male teachers used to teach girls AND GUYS to knit, when she grew up there. Isn't that cool?

Learning to knit......taken by passion

and all by surprise

I just don't get it......I see the same patterns

with appreciative eyes
