ace is not something you want to do when irritated at your soon-to-be-teen. I sent said soon-to-be-teen to bed TWO hours early last night because she was "too sick to load the dishwasher". ARGH! Soon-to-be-teen decided right at her normal bedtime that she felt better. In fact well enough to try and come out to watch TV with the rest of the family. After reminding soon-to-be-teen of her impending "illness", she threw all manner of icky fits, and proceeded to try to do everything she could to make Mom lose temper. It worked, but it didn't get displayed to soon-to-be-teen. It got displayed to FPS. Sigh. That poor birh leaf diamond will be lucky to ever get done.

I took Sunday off frome lace, just because I felt like I needed to step back and re-group. I took Monday off just due to too much "Monday" stuff going on and ALL the kids in thehouse all day long, due to Presidents Day. i waited all day yesterday until at least the 3 youngest children were in bed to start that poor FPS. And It sat unattended until this morning after 6 more attempts and 6 more realizations that I had missed a stitch, forgotten to yarn over, knitted too many(or not enough) stitches together. Now today, I am taking it nice and easy, 4 lines at a time, slow, slow, slow on the pattern. I do those 4 rows, I take a break. I do 4 more rows, I take a break. I am now through almost one HALF of the first tier Birch Leaf diamond. Point protectors on firmly, knitting tucked away safely in a zippered and buckled back, with dire threats of death to any child who so much as even GLANCES at Mom's knitting bag. I hope to finish the Birch leaf diamond before we go to AWANA tonight and then work on the Fern diamond while we watch "Medium" after AWANA. I HOPE. When I get ONE tier done, I'll take another picture of it. Hopefully, that will be tomorrow!

Now, ONE FO(finished object):

dropping stitches got easier to do as I went along. Still caused a shudder that first second to let a stitch drop off that needle on purpose!

The Clapotis laid out in all it's magnificent glory. I adore the colors on this, but it's in Red Heart. Now, while Red heart has always been good enough for me in the past, I strugggle with the roughness and stiff property of it now. I've really gotten horribly snobbish. Of course it doesn't help that I went from clapotis to FPS, to 100% merino baby booties, to 100% merino lace scarf to clapotis. I'm really hoping that it softens up with a few tumbles in the washer and dryer. It feels rather bulky as s scarf too, so I may make it smaller to wear as a scarf. I don't know. I dadore the way it came out though!

Pardon the self portrait. I was watching the camera rather closely.

So I'll tackle the stole again tonight. I was hopeful that the yarn for the wedding shawl had arrived. I have till November to get that done. I'll be working on the second half of my modular scarf, two sets of baby booties for friends who are expectuing rather soon(I wish those little booties were for OUR arrivals, but alas, no sign yt of any new ones on the way, so I'll just have fun making them for others) and a little hat to match. After that who knows? I know I really ought to make something for my dad, whose birthday is March 8th, and for my mom, whose birthday is april 21. I mean 27. Er, 29th? I never can get those dates right in there. Sigh.
