AMERICAN IDOL!

Wow, we have some real talent in this competition (not to mention some HOT HOT HOT boys)...Here are my early favorites!

Ace Young: My gosh, I drool when I see this guy. He has this amazing ability to mezmorize you when he is singing. And he CAN sing too!

Chris Daughtry: Yet another one of my favorite guys. Like Ace, he has the total package. Although Ace has him a little on the looks.

David Radford: "The Crooner." His voice is very "The Rat Pack." Not very current, but reminds me of something that I would hear going into an oldies bar. I think he has more of a career in theatre than a recording career.

Katharine McPhee: One of the top girls in the competition. Interesting girl.

Kevin Covais: Close your eyes and it's an unrefined Josh Groban. Very soothing voice. He kindof reminds me of someone's little brother.

Lisa Tucker: Wow, this girl is 16 and can belt out some notes. Definately will be in the finals!

Mandisa: Wow, Attitude. I like this girl. Again, another finalist.

Paris Bennett: What can I say about this girl. Ann Nesby's granddaughter. She has it in the blood. Girl broke it down on "Midnight Train to Georgia." ONE OF MY FAVORITE GIRLS!

Taylor Hicks: I really didn't know what to think of him up until tonight. Everything about him is different, and I think the main reason I like him is his personality.

Will Makar: He was a close pick for me. His voice is ok. He will make it far because of his looks. Nuff said.

And is it just me, or does Paula seem to get...ummm..."happier" as the night goes on on every episode?

So yeah, I came to a realization today...

I was sitting in the chair at the hair salon getting my hair done. I looked in the mirror and I saw something that I had never seen before...I had a double chin...

After I swallowed and held in the urge to cry, I realized...I'm getting old and fat...my metabolism is getting tired of working so hard so it is starting to go a strike...

AND YOU KNOW SOMETHING? that sucks. :(

Oh dear body, how could you do this to me. I fed you with all the tastiest foods that life had to offer, and you never punished be before...why now...oh god, why now...

Oh dear metabolism, please awake from your slumber and return me to the thinness that I once was. Don't leave me hanging like this...I'm not asking much...

What do you say? That you need good foods? But Taco Bell is good...

What was that? You need healthy foods...but those are untasty...

WHAT??? Then I will continue to get fatter you say?!?!? Fuck that metabolism, I'm going to Kroger and buying some apples...

And so the diet begins...

Why must the entire world be a place where everything is either black or white? Right or wrong? Just on unjust? (you get the picture, I hope)

I find myself wondering a lot of things lately. I look around at what so many consider to be normal in what society calls my "lifestyle." Overshadowed by confusion, rejection, drugs, substance abuse (maybe that was redundent), depression, suicide, etc. Is this truly what the lifestyle is, or is it what the mainstream media portrays it to be so we don't know any better? From the time most are born, they are taught that being gay is a filthy lifestyle that can't be normal. So, how can I child that is gay know any different that to accept what the world sees of it and live the life?

You never see these fundamentalist right-wing supporters showing gay people that are your everyday Joes. The ones that don't get caught up in the so-called "lifestyle." The ones that hold down jobs, have high self esteems, and are successful. No, all you see the media showing is the "filthy" side of the lifestyle. Must I remind people that there is a bad group of straight people too. There is just no term to label them like there is us.

A religious group from Tupelo recently got a group of supporters together and got "The Book of Daniel" banned from our local NBC stations. I must give them this...they don't want their perfect image of happy God-fearing people destroyed. It is good PR. Kudos on that one. But, I don't see it as a group of people trying to promote good values to people. I see it as a group of people trying to maintain power. Is it really a moral thing? Or are they scared that this show might, in some way, break the stereotype that they have worked so hard to maintain over the years?

I'm tired of the bullshit. I'm tired of the drama. However, I am not tired of fighting. Life was not meant to be easy. If it was meant to be easy, we would be dead. It's a struggle. It's a journey....one well worth taking.

Life is not a written book. It is your story. And don't let anyone's opinion tell you otherwise. The success of the world is built on those that challenged norms, and succeeded. My only hope is that as a society, we have not become so weak that we become stagnant.

And now, a poem:

I can't
Love who
And what
You want
Me to.
Why can't
I choose
Who I
Adore
All by
Myself?
