  • Close your eyes, boys! It's the Marlboro Man.

When I was a kid my mother occasionally held her hand up in front of the screen so that we wouldn't see stuff she disapproved of. I always figured it was a scantily dressed woman or something. Turns out, it might've just been a pack of Kools:

Smoking to affect movie ratings system

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Filmmakers now might get an R rating as a thank you for smoking.

The Motion Picture Assn. of America (MPAA) said Thursday that its rating board will consider film depictions of smoking among the criteria for assigning movie ratings. Anti-tobacco activists have been pressing for an automatic R rating for films with smoking scenes, but MPAA chairman and CEO Dan Glickman rejected the proposal for a more nuanced approach.

Um, how dumb can you get? Talk about majoring in the minors.

    I don't understand our culture.

And it's not like all the actors and actresses in Hollywood aren't going to actually be smoking. They all do it. It helps keep their metabolisms up, their appetites down, and the weight off. It's a lot easier to be a skeletonized waif with a pack-a-day habit.

In other news, I'm in NH for a week before I head out to Chicago.

Oh, wait. Yeah, and my brother's engaged. Congratulations to him.

  • haha, your brother just got engaged to the daughter of the president of Cedarville?  How quaint! haha....I got to Cedarville so I find it amusing that the brother of my one of my old math teachers randomly splurts across the radar and in the fleeting second he does, he's become engaged to the daughter of the President of the University I attend.  Well, then again, it could just be that I'm easily amused.
  • How on earth did you figure that out, Matt?
  • While I'm wondering if that question is sarcastic or not I'll answer it just the same.  I went to your brothers blog, then to the blog of his to be wife, and noticed she was referring to what would be pictures of the president of cedarville as "dad."  I didn't want to jump to conclusions, so I went to Dr. browns blog and found that he had mentioned your sisters engagement.  I sort of jumped the gun from there and didn't bother finding any more evidence, although I probably should have.
  • Ahh. Of course. No, not sarcastic. I just didn't realize she had the evidence up on her blog. Sorry.
  • My favorite was when Mom would holler unintelligible stuff at the TV. Jared's comment once was "You know Mom, if you yell loud enough, maybe we won't see it."
  • AACK! I forgot the comma after 'was' in the second sentence. I HATE it when I do stuff like that.
  • Yeah, okay, I know that makes me sound paranoid... I just think that there are enough spelling/grammar problems on the internet without my adding to them.
